So what is HIPPA? HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It's an act designed to specify minimum privacy rights patients have at the federal level (so that these rights span state lines) and to help establish security proceedures to allow for medical billing to be simplified and to go to a nationwide, standardized, electronic format.
