Please would you tell me who you are?
I am researching and have come across your site - but you do not appear to ‘own’ it.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Helen
I haven’t reformatted the “about” page so this info will be posted soon. I’m a clinical psychologist. I got my MS in 1993 and my PhD in 1997 from Saint Louis University. I worked in private practice full-time for about 8 years, conducting psychological assessments; offering individual, family, and couple’s therapy; and teaching part-time. In 2003 I switched to teaching full-time at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and private practice part-time. About two years ago, I closed my practice completely, switched to being the Associate Department Chair at The Chicago School full time, and teach only a little.

I started PsychPage in 1997 with a simple AOL page to post notes, links, and other psychology stuff for my students (we didn’t always have Google). I bought the domain name in 1998 and expanded the site over the years. Once I went into administration, however, I didn’t have any time for the website. So, now that my job has slowed down a bit, I’m giving PsychPage a long-needed overhaul and updating.

Edit - I fixed the comment form so it is easier to read

    Hello,
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in MN. I came across your site looking up Gottman information and I am wondering about the articles posted on your site. Do you have permissions to post them, or are they not copywrited material? I am wondering because I would like to post to my own website for clients to read, but I am not sure about the legal implications. I am open to any thoughts you might have on this. I love the way your site works!

  4. admin Says:

    Hi Martha
What I’ve posted is my notes from conferences, readings, and class presentations about Gottman and his theories, so nothing here is copyrighted. Some of the tests he uses (like the Weiss-Cerretto and Lock-Wallace questionnaires) are also copyright free from their authors, which is how he distributes them as well.

Feel free to link to whatever you like. Glad you like the site design… it’s a new setup I’m slowly moving everything from the old site over too.
    Thanks
    Rich

Hey, I really like your blog. If I could make a very delicate suggestion…

How about a slightly larger font size? Some of your posts (and for instance, the comments up above) get awfully small and difficult to read.

But other than that, I think it’s a great endeavor. Good luck and I’ll definitely be back to read more.

    Hi Amy
Glad you like the site! Yeah… I guess it is a bit tiny. I nudged the base font size up a bit, so that should make it easier to read, as well as the font inside the message box.
    Thanks :)

Your stuff is just terrific! I am revising my book, the Clinician’s Thesaurus and would like to quote some of your very practical lists and items. I will be in touch later. Again, thank you.

Hi I have just discovered your website and felt thankful enough to mail. I am a Clin Pschol in Scotland UK and am therapist for a lady with DID, in many ways she has moved on enormously in the past 5 years, but recently I have been finding the right pathway difficult to find with regard to various child parts which have recently been triggerd, but…. “lightbulb moment” have recognised from a recent Schema Mode workshop with Jeff Young it is the “undisciplined child” as well as the “angry” parts who are hyjacking the system. Thus I googled “setting limits for angry children” which led me to your page. Just what I need to resource myself, formulate a system with her and hopefully go forward again. Isnt it strange that just as we need it, the higher power sends us the resources ..if we can be mindful enought to notice. Thank you again, when time permits I will peruse what look to be very many valuable pages of information on your great website.

Hello. I am writing an research paper on Erickson’s Stages of Psychosocial Development, and came across your information about it on Psychpage.com. “Resources for Students and Professionals”. I did not see a date that this article was written and/or updated and would like to have it for my paper. I appreciate your response in this matter!

    Hi
The date for the page … I wrote that years ago. Maybe 1999? Regardless, for citing (in APA style), the date of the page is not the issue, but the date you retrieved it (since things online can change often). See http://library.nmu.edu/guides/userguides/style_apa.htm#website for an explanation of APA format for citing online sources in APA style… If you are using another system for citing work, just google that style and “online citation”.

For what it’s worth, I will be upgrading the site (again) this Summer, and since this question comes up a lot I plan to just put in the footer of the page the proper APA citation… which should make this easier for folks. If you are using another style (MLA or something) let me know and I can include the proper citations for other styles too.

    Hope this helps…
    RN
