Resources on Gay Marriage

From http://www.marriagedebate.com/resources.htm

This site is by Maggie Gallagher, second author of The Case for Marriage. Psychpage reviewed the book and found it a good work in its explanations for why marriage is more than just living together. However, Gallagher disagrees with Gay Marriage, a view she spells out in her Senate testimony at http://judiciary.senate.gov/testimony.cfm?id=1072&wit_id=3077 and http://www.uncommonknowledge.org/800/816.html.

Gallagher appears to offer a balance of ideas at her site, but the underlying reasons for her real prejudice against gays being allowed to reap the benefits of marriage too still eludes me. Gallagher is not the only professional trying to appear to see both sides of the issue but failing (see Dr. Throckmorton).

Interestingly, Linda Waite, the first author of The Case for Marriage, disagreed with Gallagher in the book, taking the stand that the data they have collected does not support or refute gay marriages. She states some of her views at http://www.smartmarriages.com/debunking.html, http://magazine.uchicago.edu/0310/features/index.shtml, and http://archive.salon.com/sex/feature/2000/10/30/marriage/print.html
